Calling all apron wearers and collectors!
Do you have a collection of aprons in your bottom draw, or an apron that has a special story?
It might be the apron made by your mother, or one that is part of your traditional dress, or used in your family’s grocery store. We want to hear from you for the very first Ballarat Apron Festival.
The Apron Festival will be held in St Patrick’s Cathedral Hall, Dawson Street South, on 10 and 11 May 2014 as part of the Ballarat Heritage weekend. It is a community festival run by a committee of volunteers.
We are looking for aprons, and apron collectors, to feature in our display. The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Who made Ballarat?’, so we’d really love to feature aprons with a connection to the story of Ballarat. It doesn’t have to be a pretty apron, or in the best condition.
We would love to hear from you, and hear the story behind your apron.
As well as having aprons on display in St Patrick’s Hall, we will also be holding two apron parades in the Mining Exchange at 11.45 each day. We are looking for people to model their own aprons in the parade. The parade will last for 15 minutes, doesn’t require any modelling experience, and should be a fun way of showcasing your apron.
Contact Heather, 0457275690, if you think you have an apron, or two, or three, or would like to be in the parade.
